RESPITE CARE

The goal of respite services under the Child Mental Health Wraparound (CMHW) program is to provide short-term relief for caregivers so they can rest, travel, or spend time with others: Give caregivers a break from their caregiving responsibilities Respite services can be provided in a variety of settings, including the youth's home, in the community, or in a facility. The location of the services is based on the needs of the caregiver and the youth. Services can last anywhere from a few hours to several weeks. Respite providers typically supervise the youth, but skill building is not required. CMHW Medicaid-funded services address the behavioral health needs of children within their families.
